HARBOURSIDE HOLIDAYS - 4 star self-catering cottages in Cornwall

Falmouth and Facilities

Just a 20 minute ferry ride from Mylor, or 15 minutes in the car, is the bustling port of Falmouth and the third deepest natural harbour in the world. There are numerous independent shops and boutiques selling local produce and souvenirs along with a handful of mainstream stores.

You will also be spoilt for choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants plus a number of delicious pasty shops and chip shops serving freshly caught fish.

Falmouth is oozing culture and history. Follow the "Packet walkway" around town and discover the oldest parts of the town that used to see the Packet Ships come and go with mail from around the world between 1689 and 1850.

Pendennis Castle is also well worth a visit, situated on the peninsula above the docks. It has amazing views across the whole bay and over to St Mawes and beyond. During the summer they fire a midday gun which, for you gun enthusiasts, is an old WWI anti zeppelin gun!
